Kathe Kruse stands by hand made craft work a principle they have never left. It was around Christmas 1905 when Kathe Kruse's daughter Maria asked for a doll she could care for and play with, a doll like a real baby. But all the dolls in the shops were stiff and cold. Kathe Kruse decided to make the doll herself. She took a soft towel, some sand as filling and a potato as a head and the first doll was born. Maria Mimerle loved this doll.
